Fox News host Tucker Carlson reacted to the weekend premiere of the romance film Fifty Shades of Grey by calling the erotic movie creepy as hell because it was marketed only for women. It does raise an interesting question about consent, Carlson noted. If adult women find this appealing I dont get it, and you clearly find that embarrassing, but can we say that they shouldnt find it appealing? I mean, who knows what the heart wants. I thought it was creepy as hell and stupid. But women loved it I found it totally unappealing. Theres nothing in there I had any interest in, and I mean that. Im still confused as to what women want, Carlson quipped. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2015/02/tucker-carlson-50-shades-of-grey-is-creepy-as-hell-because-its-erotica-only-for-women/

(70,299 posts)umm.. Tucky wanted to find out what women want---but he was left as confused as he was before he watched the movie
....Groups like Planned Parenthood are promoting BDSM and violent sexual practices to teenagers, she said.
Ew! Carlson scoffed.
You can say youre a 40-year-old woman and its all about your choices, but this is our culture, and we have to protect our young girls and teach respect to men, Rose said.
Im still confused as to what women want, Carlson quipped.
Watch the video below from Fox News Hannity, broadcast Feb. 15, 2015.

Someone should have warned them all that the book was Mommy Porn.

(90,787 posts)That said, I've read very lengthy reviews of both the movie and book by people whose reviews I do respect in the morning, and let me just say I appreciate them for having read it/seen it on my behalf.
I'm reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed, and it's fantastic. I can hardly wait to see the movie. Loved The Imitation Game, and now have to find the biography of Alan Turing.
Lots of really good stuff out there, if Tuck would only look around. Maybe Selma?

Yes, millions bought it, but that doesn't mean they all became huge fans. And for all the women who went to the movie this weekend after all the hype, there were many more who stayed home.

(73,631 posts)It's just that I don't expect Carlson to have either the intellectual or emotional capacity to understand any of it and explain what he saw.

(21,046 posts)But I have read that the sex in it is not consensual. And the BDSM community emphasizes "Safe, sane and consensual". And that it's badly written.
I wouldn't expect Tucker Carlson to understand anything about women and/or sex.
Some of these right wing guys think women are from another planet and they think women are strange, because they are so egotistical they expect everyone else to be just exactly like them. Women are not exactly like them, obviously. Vive le difference!!
(Disclaimer:Applies to straight people only, if you're bi or gay, that's fine too. YMMV)

(56,828 posts)i have not read the books or seen the movie, but isn't it about a rich guy who plays the dominant role with a pretty younger woman? So, not only is it BDSM in the bedroom, but since he's rich and she's just out of college, he's also in the dominant role outside the bedroom because of his wealth and her relative poverty in comparison?
Isn't the stern father the "ideal" right wing situation?

It's funny how knee-jerk some of the reactions here are. Because Tucker Carlson is against violent porn aimed at women, then we're supposed to support it. Is that the idea?

"Ashley was now wearing only brief white panties. She had signaled her desire by removing her shirt and skirt, and by leaning back on the couch. She closed her eyes, concentrating on nothing but Shannon's tongue and lips. He gently teased her by licking the areas around her most sensitive erogenous zone. Then he slipped her panties down her legs and within seconds his tongue was..."

I've not seen the movie. Have no intent to see it. But he needs to shut up.
And I'll stop there because I'm going to be really crass about him if I continue.
