Congressman Dave Brat doesn't like education...

Rep. Dave Brat: Slash Education Funding Because 'Socrates Trained Plato In On A Rock'

Rep. Dave Brat is the perfect example of what the GOP has become. A vacuous party filled with nincompoops, charlatans, right wing extremists and religious zealots. Dave Brat is Laura Ingrahams whiz kid that dethroned Eric Cantor and now he's part of the House Education and Workforce Committee.

Here's the kind of expertise he brings to the table:

Brat: The greatest thinkers in Western civ were not products of education policy. Socrates trained Plato in on a rock and then Plato trained in Aristotle, roughly speaking, on a rock. So, huge funding is not necessary to achieve the greatest minds and the greatest intellects in history.

His family moved from Alma to Minnesota when David, the oldest of three boys, was in junior high.[6] Brat graduated from Park Center Senior High School in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.[6]

Brat attended Hope College in Michigan and received a B.A. in Business Administration in 1986; he also graduated with a Master's degree in Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1990 and earned a Ph.D in economics from American University in 1995.[9]

Academic career[edit]
After working for Arthur Andersen and as a consultant for the World Bank, Brat joined the faculty of Randolph–Macon College in 1996,[9] where he served as chair of the department of economics, and taught courses including "Britain in the International Economy", "International Economic Development", and "Business Ethics".[10]

From 2010 to 2012 Brat headed Randolph-Macon's BB&T Moral Foundations of Capitalism program, one of sixty similar programs and chairs in the philosophy and economics departments at United States universities devoted to the study of capitalism and morality, endowed by the BB&T Corporation.[11][12][13][14]

In 2006 Brat was appointed by Virginia governor Tim Kaine to the Governor's Advisory Board of Economists, a position he continues to hold. He has also served on the board of directors of the Richmond Metropolitan Authority, and on the advisory board of the Virginia Public Access Project.[14]

After eric cancer lost the repug primary to brat, Brat was challenged for the seat by https://www.facebook.com/trammell4va, a PROFESSOR at Randolph Macon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Trammell

Congressman Bratt, why don't you lead by example of Socrates training Plato on a rock (as the cost of education.) Rebate your students the cost of your salary, benefits, office overhead, etc. Everything except the cost of your desk (today's version of the rock.) Ask all educators to do the same (not retroactive but going forward.)

Oh - the rock is still there. Plato abandoned it after Socrates stopped showing up when he was starving to death.

It's disgraceful that the Dems did not work harder to (a) find a strong candidate and/or (b)train and support the candidate that they did have (who seemed like a good guy but was very green).

Brat is really a nutcase.(And he was less popular as a professor than his Dem rival, who is a professor at the same college. What can I say? Students know.).
The reason that Dems don't win is that we give up too easily.
