Affidavit: 2 Minn. men with ties to supremacist groups had amassed weapons with goal of attack

MINNEAPOLIS - A federal affidavit says two Minnesota men with ties to white supremacist groups amassed several weapons as part of a plan to attack the government, minorities and others.

The FBI began investigating 31-year-old Samuel Johnson of Austin and 42-year-old Joseph Thomas of Mendota Heights in 2010.

Johnson is indicted on weapons charges, and Thomas faces drug charges.

According to an FBI affidavit unsealed this week, Johnson is a former member and Minnesota leader of the National Socialist Movement. He formed his own supremacist group and was planning to recruit others to attack the government and minorities.

I would not mind if they used them to gather evidence, but the trick is with a warrant

We kill dark skinned terrorists instead of trying them.
We arrest non dark-skinned terrorists to take to trial.

Of course the rationale is that white terrorists won't gun you down when you try to arrest them.

you see a lot of our privacy laws have NOT been revised in 1987... which is a problem. We didn't have drones back then, or a mature social media. I mean Prodigy was it, and AOL was a twinkle in version one.

Why I actually said, with proper warrant, have at it. There are certain areas of the country, like the back country of Michigan, where the feds will have to use high flying drones to gather SOME evidence. Well, they need warrants... in my opinion.

And if you have a situation like Ruby Ridge again, somebody will want to use armed drones, and that will be crossing a line I am not particularly comfortable with. (And you will, just a matter of time)

And in no way that justifies what is happening with drones abroad either.
