Social conservatives in Oklahoma are infuriated over the blocking of a personhood bill. They write:
Republican leaders in the Oklahoma Legislature have killed a pro-life bill without even allowing a floor vote on the measure.
The personhood bill would acknowledge that life begins at conception and has been passed or is under debate in a dozen states.
The Oklahoma House and Senate are controlled by Republican leaders who run for re-election under a GOP pro-life platform that promotes the sanctity of life. One GOP lawmaker said the personhood bill was killed because the State Chamber of Commerce instructed the GOP leadership to do so because the chamber didnt want any negative national publicity.

We all know who cracks the whip in the Republican party. In the GOP car, Wall St. is riding in the front seat while the evangelicals are tied to the roof of the car.

(53,661 posts)The much larger issue of 'personhood' and all the rest of this claptrap is not about life, it's about power and punishing the poor. If it was about life, you'd have been pushing universal healthcare all these years!
It's poverty that causes women to beg the government for their health needs which the CoC and social conservatives gloat over and sadistically make them jump through hopes to humiliate them further.
No rich woman is ever denied whatever she wants in healthcare, abortion, contraception, etc! Santorum's own wife had a late term abortion to save her life, but he voted to outlaw it for others!
