Scott Walker puts his ambition ahead of fixing crumbling roads

"Many governors made finding new money for roads and other infrastructure a major priority in the early months of this year's legislative sessions, even if that means increasing fuel taxes," the magazine wrote. "Both Democrats and Republicans say spending more money on roads could spur local economies at a time when federal funds are sparse, gas is cheap, interest rates are low and re-election campaigns are a long way off."
But election campaigns are not that far off for our governor here in Wisconsin. He's salivating over reports some 15 months before the Republican National Convention that he's got a good chance to capture the GOP nomination for president.
So taking advantage of what other governors are finding to be a golden opportunity is not in the cards for Scott Walker. His personal ambitions come first.
He wants to borrow some $1.3 billion for the state's transportation fund rather than risk a backlash from the tea partyers who effectively control today's Republican Party and who see supporting any tax increase as a cardinal sin that automatically disqualifies you from holding office.
