(17,997 posts)Just horrible.
Bill O'Reilly is, most definitely, part of the instigator of this violence. He and others that spew hatred should be held accountable.

(17,997 posts)The media is manipulated by ISIS? I think it's the same corporate ptb that manipulate 90% of the "news" in America. (I don't know what the actual percentage is. Just think it has to be close to 90%)
But to answer your question, yes. I think most of the MSM is guilty. Regardless of who is manipulating them. But there are some that are much worse than others. O'Reilly is among them.
If you're asking if I think ISIS is to blame, I don't put them in the same category as the false reporting that includes Muslims as a whole as being the bad guys. It's the press that's doing that

(23,946 posts)immediately after ISIS releases them?
The media agrees ISIS are murderers, criminals.... pure evil...but they (ISIS) may not be liars???

(17,997 posts)It isn't ISIS that is saying France is filled with sharia law and there are places that even the police won't go for fear of their lives because of Muslims. It isn't ISIS that is calling a conference for peace in Dallas a conference to end democracy. It isn't ISIS that is calling some very peace loving, interfaith leaders in the US, terrorists. It's US MSM.

(39,215 posts)propaganda is pushing the American public to blame innocent people. In WWI and WWII we made some really big mistakes in protecting the American citizens who were of German and Japanese ancestry. I do not remember so much of that during our more recent wars until Iraq. W put a lot of people in Gitmo simply because they were Iraqi. And now we have this starting all over again. It really is true. Americans never learn anything from history.

(45,319 posts)Let's look at the FBI's 2013 statistics, the most recent year available, for crimes motivated by bias against the victim's religion:
Of the 1,223 victims of anti-religious hate crimes:
60.3 percent were victims of crimes motivated by their offenders anti-Jewish bias.
13.7 percent were victims of anti-Islamic (Muslim) bias.
6.1 percent were victims of anti-Catholic bias.
4.3 percent were victims of bias against groups of individuals of varying religions (anti-multiple religions, group).
3.8 percent were victims of anti-Protestant bias.
0.6 percent were victims of anti-Atheist/Agnostic bias.
11.2 percent were victims of bias against other religions (anti-other religion). (Based on Table 1.)
There were even more hate crimes based on bias against the victim's sexuality and far more against the victim's race. Of the 7,242 victims of hate crime, 61.2 percent were victims of crimes against persons, and 37.7 percent were victims of crimes against property. The remaining 1.1 percent were victims of crimes against society.
I offer that the public apathy toward all such crimes is the magic sauce that allows such crimes to flourish. I note that the people who are taking up this particular set of crimes have in the past been very sanguine about arson against other groups, murders of other groups. If one is opposed only to hate crimes against one's own kind, then one is not really opposed to hate crimes, one just has a selective set of approved victims. 4,432 hate crimes against persons in 2013. 4,432 cases met with utter silence, a silence that welcomed the next round of hate crimes....
