http://thinkprogress.org/immigration/2015/02/20/3625128/gosar-earned-income-tax-credit-immigrants/During a town hall meeting in Payson, Arizona last week, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) stunned constituents when he claimed that undocumented immigrants could stand to receive $24,000 in retroactive compensation after they are approved for the presidents executive action on immigration relief.
Gosar has stretched the truth about undocumented immigrants in the past. Last September, Gosar tweeted pictures of himself squatting near barbed wire. He wrote, 25 miles of barbed wire fence is the only thing keeping #ISIS out of America. We must secure the border #AZBorderTour. Obama administration officials dismissed claims that ISIS members could sneak into the country by land, not least of which because federal spending on immigration enforcement already costs $18 billion.

I think we should all write this guy and ask for our bonus. After all, my ancestors didn't exactly have papers when they landed here centuries ago. Talk about illegal immigrants!

You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

The anti-immigrant sentiment expressed by Gosar and other far-right republicans is a reflection of this bitterness.
