Was Brian Williams was taken down to delay or distract coverage of Bill O's "combat" lies?

The timing of the Williams story(which involves a far less serious offense than what O'Reilly is accused of) is looking more and more suspect.

The credibility that the the Williams story received, led them to decide it was timely to make it public now.
