I clicked on this #1 trend on twitter thinking I was going to find lot of support for the President after Giuliani's asinine comments.
Wrong
A few posts of support but mostly a tea party catch phrase party full of nonsense and racist hate. Made me sick
basically the hashtag is being used as a sarcastic joke. Example: "#Obamalovesamerica like Brian Williams loves telling the truth".
*Sigh*
If you are looking for something to make you feel a little proud of your country this evening, you won't find it there. So sick of this stuff. it is so discouraging. Like watching the schoolyard bully attack your best friend.

(42,641 posts)it seemed that signs of overt racism were dying out. Not too many proud KKK members running around burning crosses, not too many Nazi Party lunatics saluting. It almost seemed that this country might be getting past your Civil War.
Then came Racist Ronnie Reagan, with his idiotic talk about morning in Amerikkka and any dreams or hopes that Amerikkka was finally over the Civil War soon disappeared. Or were proven premature.
It has been 6 years since the first black President was elected. Frankly the fact that he was elected stunned me. And the GOP was also obviously stunned. Given that the GOP basically stole the 2000 and the 2004 election, McCain probably figured the 2008 election was his.
6 years of over 400 filibusters, a GOP House that has been on vacation for 6 years, a Senate that obstructed for 6 years, and idiots can still complain that the President has not done enough to reach out to the GOP.
The only good thing about the Tea Partiers is that demographics and mortality are against them. In spite of all their hate, it will never be 1954 again.
Keep the faith and keep up hope and remember what Dr. Martin Luther King said: "the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice"
