Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) on Sunday defended former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's (R) comments questioning President Obama's patriotism.
"The reality is that Rudy has taken our debate and I think we should thank him for this part of it back to national security, to the key element that the president should be focusing on," Issa said on CNN's "State of the Union." "He needs to call it Islamic terrorism. He cant be looking at everything through the vision that somehow that if you treat people better or more democratic, youre not going to have terrorism."
Giuliani came under fire this week after he said that Obama doesn't "love America" and that Obama isn't as "patriotic" as other presidents were.
Issa on Sunday said that Giuliani's criticisms weren't partisan.
"He governed a city that was vast majority Democratic. Hes not a partisan politician in any real way," Issa said.

(42,641 posts)because he is of Lebanese descent? Because he does not look like an Englishman? Because he has a semitic appearing nose?
Or can I talk about his multiple convictions for a variety of offenses?

(16,079 posts)"... he was stopped for driving the wrong way on a one-way street, and a police officer noticed a firearm in his glove compartment. Issa was charged with carrying a concealed weapon. He pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of an unregistered firearm, and was sentenced to six months' probation and a small fine"
He was charged numerous times...but somehow was always able to get the charges dropped...wonder who he knew?

(23,946 posts)How much exactly does CNN get paid these days through Koch Kash ads?
The Jeff Zucker produced Corrupt News Network is now just another arm of the GOP media octopus.
"One change that Mr. Zucker has made is emphasizing breaking news, focusing coverage on just two or three major stories throughout a given day, rather than delivering an all-encompassing, scattershot report of the headlines as was common in the past. The rationale is that viewers are likely to catch other news on the web or on social media. Mr. Zucker leads daily news meetings, unlike past CNN chiefs who delegated the responsibility. Employees called Mr. Zucker a micromanager and said that he sent missives from his BlackBerry at all hours about everything, be it the length of story segments or the graphics that appear on screen."
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/04/business/media/at-crossroads-cnn-seeks-to-reassert-itself.html?_r=0
Hence we get snowstorms, ISIS and a murder trial....all day long...and the next day and the next and....
Micromanaging as does Roger Ailes at Fox. Controlling the messsage as demanded by his paymasters, otherwise widely known as "propaganda", not news.
What does this tell you about CNN:
"On Thursday, that approach meant the Ebola outbreak and the Secret Service controversy dominated airtime. This year, CNN was mocked for committing near wall-to-wall coverage to the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, but Mr. Zucker has boasted that the network posted better ratings than its rivals during that stretch."
Ratings, ratings, ratings, news coverage gets in the way of ratings.

A little touch of historical patriotism for 'em: It's A World Turned Upside Down, and they're the ones on the downside.

(21,925 posts)He has no credibility about any subject. While in the military, fellow soldier Jay Bergey alleged that Issa stole his Dodge Charger. No charges were ever filed when Bergey threatened Issa and the car was then found abandoned on the roadside. After his discharge in 1972, he was indicted twice, once for theft of a Maserati and the second indictment led to a conviction over carrying a concealed weapon in his glove compartment. In 1980 he was again indicted for Grand Theft Auto along with his brother. Charges were dropped when Darrel blamed it all on his brother, who claimed Darrel was also in on it. In 1981, Issa fled the scene of an auto accident before police arrived and settled an out-of-court suit with the other motorist.
