The Fur Rendezvous Open World Championship sled dog sprint races are the latest victim of warm weather that has obliterated trail conditions around Southcentral Alaska and in Anchorage.

Iron Dog snowmachines speeding through wet, heavy glop sprayed slush everywhere as they pulled out of Big Lake on Sunday morning in the start of their 2,000-mile journey. The snow resembled wet cement, and it slowed the early going.

the Iron Dog. This winter and the snow have been really crappy here at home so I suspect he'll do okay.
