Now that was a record breaking performance by my team - the West Indies.
Bravo Chris Gayle - first double ton in a World Cup.

See you in the finals, malaise.

(269,200 posts)I don't think we'll make the finals, but given the jackass tweet by the Board President, I'm really glad Chris decided to shut him up (even if this was against a weak team).
Our bowling sucks big time.
New Zealand could shock the world and win it (best fielding team in the world) - OZ must be favorites and India is finding form at the right time. South Africa has a great team on paper but they have perfected the art of choking when it counts.
Not sure we'll make the semis. It's the politics I love and the way our players are uniting against the morons who run own cricket.

(23,946 posts)A never ending soap opera in a nation with a thousand media outlets and the same number of TV channels it seems.
Unfortunately I just get a daily one hour wrap up on my cable, but the semis and final are being carried in full, live.
malaise
(269,200 posts)India actually controls world cricket because they control the market by sheer numbers. Our board is in the middle of 'war' with the Indian board as ours attempted to cut our players' pay and the players said they would strike. Our Board canceled the Indian tour in the middle of one section and the Indian Board is demanding US$42M.
Said Chris Gayle won a man of the match award when we were in South Africa last month and went public on the victimization of two of our players who should have been in the World Cup (including the former captain). Hence they were out for Gayle. The way he shut them up is delish!
The saga continues.

On edit: I attempted to search Google images for a picture of crickets playing soccer. Alas, there were none. However, I did find this gem in the process:
