I'm a veteran. I support McDonald.

This tempest-in-a-teapot is ridiculous.
The guy was actually out on the streets, talking to homeless veterans.
When's the last time the head of the VA did that?
Hands?
I didn't think so.

Of course the repugs and right wing veterans groups who hate it that we have a mixed race president will jump on this and call for McDonald's resignation.
We expected nothing less.

STAY THE COURSE, ROBERT!

What the hell is wrong with this man? He has a true story, stick with that. Why expose the Administration and Veterans to the RW propaganda machine? Get a clue Robert!

"That was inaccurate and I apologize to anyone that was offended by my misstatement."

And the above of one of the non-apology statements we always call out here on DU.

I'd like to support it.

It just keeps running into the shadows before I can grab it.

And really I don't want to seem to make excuses for him.

It's just silly to think this is as perfectly black and white as DU righteousness deems it

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/homo-consumericus/201111/how-often-do-people-lie-in-their-daily-lives

How often do people lie?

1) The average number of lies told per day was 1.65. This strikes me as surprisingly low. I have the feeling that many participants were lying about the extent of their lying!

(2) Only 40.1% of the sample reported telling a lie in the past 24 hours.

(3) 22.7% of all lies were told by one percent of the sample, and half of all of the lies were told 5.3% of the sample.

(4) Subsequent to controlling for various demographic variables, no statistically significant sex differences were found in terms of the extent of lying (men = 1.93 lies; women = 1.39 lies). I should mention that evolutionary psychologists would have predicted this null effect, as one should expect that men and women are equally adept at lying albeit they are more or less likely to lie about sex-specific issues of evolutionary import (e.g., in personal ads/online dating, men lie about their social status while women lie about their appearance; cf. Hall et al., 2010(link is external)).

As I age I have less tolerance. This just seems so stupid. I worked with an honest liar at one time, he said he doesn't tell it like it is, he tells it like he would like it to be.

being filmed. What the fuck does he say when he's NOT being recorded? And for those who say, "Well, he was just trying to engage or connect with the guy"--do you regularly engage with strangers by embellishing your past or inventing facts? Me neither.

Does this incident mean he's just a bullshitter? Maybe, but we out here can't really tell.
