From his wife:A Christopher Green update.
Chris has moved to room 222 at Kindred. 11900 Fairhill Rd. Cleveland, OH 44120.
I am worried that he may be getting discouraged. He has been on the vent for some time; hasn't painted or played guitar. If you could send him a funny card, it may help. Humor is a wonderful balm. Thank you.

(24,605 posts)and will try to get a card off tomorrow. It must be soooo hard to keep "up" with so much going on with him.
Thanks, CP. I hope he gets a ton of cards!

Also, do you know how his pressure ulcer is doing?
Thanks for the update!

(149,699 posts)I haven't heard anything more about the pressure ulcer. I always forget to ask on the rare occasion when I talk to Laurie.
I'll see what I can do.
And you're very welcome!

They are caused by the lack of regularly turning a patient and proper support for his body. It's little known in the medical community that pressure ulcer necrosis actually begins deeper near the bone and once visible, the tissue needs immediate attention and often surgery.
My spouse did research with Alan Hargens, an M.D. who is well-known for his research in this area. He spent hours on hospital wards filled with patients with these gaping sores. As the fine nurses who post here on DU will attest to, these wounds must be taken very seriously, as they themselves can be life threatening. As if Chris didn't hasn't had enough serious problems, he now has this!!
California Peggy, if you're reading this, I want to Thank You for all you posts keeping us updated on Chris. He's one of my favorite DUers and I miss him. He's been through so much hell. I'll get a card to him a.s.a.p.
on edit: I'll come out and say it: hospital patients with pressure ulcers are victims of neglect! Sorry.
2n late edit: in discussing Chris' situation this evening, my hubs corrected me, saying that the main underlying cause of pressure ulcers is poor nutrition. (He was quoting Dr. George Taler, an authority who's authored papers on the subject.) I'm feeling even more sad for Chris now. Card is being mailed and healing vibes sent.

(149,699 posts)They are treating it aggressively and have been for some time, but you're right: he has so many serious problems and now this. He sure did not need it. And I sure do agree with your edit.

(4,940 posts)I was just cleaning up my "card box" - and a cute "hope you're doing better" one kind of fell between the monitor and one of the cats. Picked it up, and here's your post! Addressing card now!
