Every time a politician says 'we have to strengthen the border,' they're omitting a telling word -
'southern.' No one seems to point this out. And it's a rather bigoted omission.
I'd be far more concerned security-wise of those seeking to do harm coming in from the other 3 borders. Repubs have framed the 'secure border' issue as only related to immigration -- and try to lay all manner of threats on Latinos headed north.
How secure are Canadian airports and how tough is it to cross our northern border? Nice forest cover, no desert to cross, no wall... and, gee, those Canadians look and talk just like us (mostly). And since we're so similar, right down to the oil-soaked conservative leadership, they must be lookibg out f/ our welfare and not letting terrorists in so they can sneak thru the wide open border to harm us, right?
So by all means, let's forget about actual national security and concentrate on keeping those damn Latinos out and use precious resources to get those who are here -- because they can & want to contribute to our economy -- back across the southern border where they belong.
Canada will protect us.
