Saudi Arabia is prepared to let Israeli fighter jets use its airspace if it proves necessary to attack Irans nuclear program, an Israeli TV station reported Tuesday, highlighting growing ties in the shadow of Tehrans nuclear drive.
Riyadhs only condition is that Israel make some kind of progress in peace talks with the Palestinians, Channel 2 reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed senior European source.
The Saudi authorities are completely coordinated with Israel on all matters related to Iran, the European official in Brussels said.
Jerusalem and Riyadh do not have diplomatic ties, but unconfirmed reports have swirled for years of coordination between them against the common enemy of Iran, a partnership that may ramp up should the world powers reach a reportedly emerging deal that would allow Tehran to continue enriching some uranium.
The report claimed the Saudi authorities had made their position clear in various unspecified diplomatic discussions on the matter.

(34 posts)Hint: it's not the one flown by the regime formerly supported by the KSA military.
In the few engagements they timidly took part in with the Houthi militia, the KSA military faired quite poorly. Iran's sophisticated air defenses would make short work of whatever the kingdom of horrors sent forth. All of the Gulf regimes prefer to engage in warfare-by-proxy. Lately they have been able to launch air-strikes against certain factions in Libya with impunity in support of the renegade warlord (and ironically named) Khalifa Haftar, but really, their armed forces are only for show and keeping down their own citizens.
But yes, even just the report is about keeping up pressure on Iran. The slightly more interesting part is how openly the de facto Saudi-Israeli alliance is being mentioned, but then again that's as well-kept a secret as Israel's rogue nuclear weapons program is.
