The unidentified female teacher was found deceased inside a classroom at El Dorado High School at 1641 Valencia Avenue just before school started Monday morning, according to Placentia Police Lt. Eric Point.
Students and another teacher got her down to the floor and called 911 about 8:40 a.m., according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.

This is the high school I attended in Southern California.
Why would a teacher do this to her students/faculty?

(30,481 posts)Maybe she wanted someone other than a family member to find her but wanted to know she would be seen quickly. No clue. Very sad. That being said there is probably a direct connection to the school with her reasoning.

(16,926 posts)We kids used to ride our bikes there and swim in the pool. I remember Placentia as a tremendous place to grow up. Very sad.

(21,691 posts)Maybe it was a hostile workplace. Maybe that's just where she was when the pain was too much. Maybe she didn't want to be found by her children (if she had any).

(12,221 posts)I wasn't aware of teaching having such a high suicide rate. (if that's the case)
I know it's a lot of work, and not always rewarding.
