So, I read 36 CFR Chap XII SubChap B and 44 USC Chap 31

which I was referred to when I clicked "Federal Records Act" on the national archives site.

Nothing that I could see in that material -requires- an agency to use a government email system.

I'm missing something, and the computer I am using isn't authorized to open other PDFs I found about federal records using Google.

Can someone please point me to the place in the laws/rules etc that make use of private email illegal?

All I can find are statements about agencies must have policies and procedures in place to manage email records so that those meeting the definition of 'government records' will be sent to the archives.

would be a party to this latest "Bengazi was a cover-up" revival attempt.

But I guess some ascribe to "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" cuteism ... when, in fact, the enemy of my enemy is STILL my enemy!

and since then I've tried to keep the 'if this is true' thought in mind with respect to breaking stories on DU.

If this is true, the details of what laws, regulation, rules or policy were violated will soon be revealed. Swinging at every curveball the media throws is a good way to strike out looking silly.

BENGAZI!!!!!!

It's funny ... 6 short years ago, the media was to be distrusted, and for good reason. The standard DU fare for breaking "scandal" was "Okay ... what's this about."

That all changed in, or about, January 2009 ... then, any and every media report was to be considered. This led to some embarrassing DU moments and most DUers remembered the media's contribution to the misinformation that was out there.

Then, with the Snowden/GG dust ups, the media reports (on certain matters) was suddenly considered presumptively on to something. This led to even more DU embarrassment; but, no rememberances.

Now ... well ... BENGAZI!!!
