Keep it classy, senatorLUKE BRINKER
South Carolina senator and noted dreamboat Lindsey Graham poked fun at House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosis appearance on Tuesday, delivering the sexist jab following Pelosis criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus congressional address this morning.
While Netanyahus criticisms of the multilateral negotiations aimed at curtailing Irans nuclear program met with roaring Republican applause, Pelosi and other Democrats declined to clap at certain points, as when Netanyahu urged Congress to block a nuclear deal. Pelosi later issued a statement in which she said that she was near tears throughout the Prime Ministers speech saddened by the insult to the intelligence of the United States as part of the P5 +1 nations, and saddened by the condescension toward our knowledge of the threat posed by Iran and our broader commitment to preventing nuclear proliferation.
Did you see Nancy Pelosi on the floor? Complete disgust, Graham told a group of political donors after the speech, per Bloombergs Josh Rogin. If you can get through all the surgeries, theres disgust.
The ever-classy Graham whos been floating a 2016 presidential bid came under fire earlier this year after he asking anti-abortion activists at the March for Life to help find a way out of this definitional problem with rape.

(79 posts)A long time ago Kenneth Anger had to take out the name, "Princess Tiny Meat", in reference to Dear Monty Clift, in his book Hollywood Babylon. Monty was one of the finest American actors in the history of the theater and film. He did deserve better.
I propose we now crown Sweet Lindsey our official "Princess Tiny Meat"
from here on in. It fits his Divine smile and Scarlett like persona. And it is very accurate. Truman (Capote) and Monty would approve.
They are baiting every woman who has any power now.
Running scared. Their agendi and narrative only works on the terrified.
Knowing the blow back, which was predictable by her comment, Princess Tiny Meat sounds like she wants out. Dear Princess come out come out. Live a healthier life, Dear.

Glad to know that in addition to being the mouthpiece for DU at large, you are also apparently psychic and can tell what I'm thinking.
Sorry Bunky, the only proper response to the phrase "I'm offended" is "So fucking what?"

(54,087 posts)Pelosi's a big girl; she can take the insult. What's really sobering here is the habit of meanspiritedness, the habit of cattiness toward anyone he disapproves of. The Republicans actively cultivate a culture of scorn and disrespect. When we copy that incivility, we do as much damage to the republic.

Women are under much more societal pressure to tweak their appearances, so I guess there's a whiff of sexism in the mean.

(45,251 posts)Please, for the love of whomever, there are so many legitimate things for which Graham should be criticized and soundly. Whether he is gay or effeminate or anything else along those lines is not one of them.

(907 posts)But all I was saying was that Graham should remember that he could be subjected to shallow comments about appearance himself since he doesn't fit the "ideal" that superficial people have.
Of course, now you should individually respond to all the other members who have said the same thing I've said in your sanctimionious crusade to set the world right; but somehow I don't think you're going to be willing to spend the necessary few minutes to do that. If you don't do that, you'll only show yourself to be selectively indignant.
Have a good day.

(45,251 posts)Or did the height of the horse YOU got on to insult me sanctimoniously over my brief post make you too dizzy to read? I spoke only about the substance of your post and only briefly at that. You, however, went on a sanctimonious ad hom rant.
And are you implying that I somehow singled you out" And also that I am some kind of bad person unless I go over the entire thread (entire board maybe?) and do the same thing that you took such offense at to other posters?
But all I was saying was that Graham should remember that he could be subjected to shallow comments about appearance himself since he doesn't fit the "ideal" that superficial people have.
You could have chosen many shallow comments about his appearance other than "macho doesn't come to mind." For example, he spoke to Pelosi's surgeries and I said he looked "refreshed" himself.
I don't care all that much about what anyone posts to me. And even less so you after your attack. However, at least be honest with yourself about what you posted and why I responded to your post in particular.
I almost always have a great day and I wish you the same.

(45,251 posts)I don't know that my thought was a sexist, though. Several politicians, regardless of gender, who think about running for President or higher office than they currently hold start looking fresher, perhaps less gray or gray-less, fitter, thinner, pay more attention to the their haircuts and styles, hire stylists.
The only "definitional problem" with rape of which I am aware is that some Republicans won't admit it both (a) happens and (b) results in pregnancy of some victims. No one else I know has any definitional problem at all with rape. So, Republicans should be able to fix the definitional problem they and only they fabricated ASAP.
However, I have a feeling that the Senator's request that anti-abortion groups fix the definition will result only in another dumbass definitional problem. So, if he really wants it resolved in a way that Republicans will not suffer even more over the definition he should probably ask someone else to resolve the definitional problem (You're welcome, Lindsey and all GOP politicians!)
