This is horrendous & callous & just so wrong. He shoots a PONY-A freakin PONY and tells the family it was badly injured & had to be put down.
Vet examination shows Pony was in perfect health before he was shot.
I doubt I'd ever call the police unless I was being robbed & I'd still go for my 12 guage 1st.
Shooting a PONY-WTF is the Easter Bunny next?.
I hope the town fires this A-hole pos scumbag

(19,926 posts)Why would he do that? This is not the type of person that should be in a position of authority, particularly one that requires one to carry a deadly weapon.
This is a sick human being. Why on earth would you shoot dead a perfectly fine pony? What possible reason can he have? He knew damn well the pony didn't have two broken legs. He killed for the "fun" of it. Next time who knows what or who he'll murder.

(24,330 posts)from the story
- "When I called the officer he said that he had gotten out on the highway and gotten hit by a car and broke both of his back legs,
- Thompson also said he believes the deputy called the Oregon Humane Society to ask about euthanizing the horse before he shot it
- the deputy called a local veterinarian to ask about euthanizing the horse
From the vet
- The report says Gir died by gunshot, had no broken bones except for a fractured jaw caused by a bullet, and was in excellent body condition considering he had arthritis.
*** So, no broken bones
- A spokeswoman for OHS tells KATU News the deputy never called them.
*** So, no call
- He confirmed he did talk to the deputy, that his office offered assistance in euthanizing the horse, but that the officer said he would take care of the problem on his own and call a rendering service himself.
*** So he did call. The vet said they could do it. He said he'd get someone else to do it and didn't
Makes me wonder what lies he'd spread if it were a human he'd killed

The officer was entirely in the wrong trying to sell diagnose without a vets input.
Tragic story.
