Just a general observation on priorities about the past couple of days.

The Alabama Supreme Court has rejected a ruling from a Federal Judges and ordered same sex marriages STOPPED!

Hillary Clinton is accused of something to do with her e-mails while she was Secretary Of State.

Which one is being harmed here?

One is getting talked about & the other being swept under the rug.

Well, Hillary’s the talk of the town & the LGBT Community in Alabama are having their rights recently given to them, yanked right out of their fucking hands. If you think I’m not pissed, you’re wrong!

It was Hillary Clinton at the United Nations as Secretary Of State that said

“This recognition did not occur all at once. It evolved over time. And as it did, we understood that we were honoring rights that people always had, rather than creating new or special rights for them. Like being a woman, like being a racial, religious, tribal, or ethnic minority, being LGBT does not make you less human. And that is why gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights.

It is violation of human rights when people are beaten or killed because of their sexual orientation, or because they do not conform to cultural norms about how men and women should look or behave. It is a violation of human rights when governments declare it illegal to be gay, or allow those who harm gay people to go unpunished. It is a violation of human rights when lesbian or transgendered women are subjected to so-called corrective rape, or forcibly subjected to hormone treatments, or when people are murdered after public calls for violence toward gays, or when they are forced to flee their nations and seek asylum in other lands to save their lives. And it is a violation of human rights when life-saving care is withheld from people because they are gay, or equal access to justice is denied to people because they are gay, or public spaces are out of bounds to people because they are gay. No matter what we look like, where we come from, or who we are, we are all equally entitled to our human rights and dignity.”

Guess which of these two Stories in the news I am more concerned with?

If we are not all equal, nothing else matters.

So for the people that I know from around town & around the U, S. & the world while you’re foaming at the mouth about something that doesn't mean didly squat, I’ll be fighting the good fight to help secure the freedoms for my brethren in Alabama.

Just some food for thought.

Good night.

Yes I know I am exaggerating what should happen, but only by one degree. So now we have judges deciding the rule of law based on their own opinion of social relationships, based on nothing to do with the law! Rogue justice systems, just what we needed at a time like this.

We should expect this kind of thing to happen in Russia. Yes I make fun of Alabama (and my state Texas) as being backwards, but as backwards as the former USSR? Proof that republicans have no bottom level. No standard they will not violate and destroy.

Oh yeah the other news, HRC keeps unclassified emails on her own ISP. After catching the CIA spying on Congress (which is not an desputable opinion) and her being a former senator...yep my going off here. Might as well hand over all your private conversations to the NSA in hopes someone there doesn't hate you.

My own personal CT.

informed her that many rich people are in favor of gay marriage and it would be a politically convenient time to change her position to secure better funding for a presidential campaign.

Sort of like when she triangulated to a new position on the Iraq war nearly 10 fucking years later when she acknowledged that to get more money from donors she might have to admit her vote would have been different knowing what we now know or some bs like that.

I'm told that buying and selling principals on the free market is the trait of an excellent leader for the Democratic Party.

But I don't believe that so I'm not Ready for Hillary.

as for LGBT issues, those concerned should question if Hillary's dial-o-matic triangulation system is what you want representing your best interests.

I support same-sex marriage. And being in Texas, I'm aware of the chaos. But as a liberal, I know Hillary is not going to represent me in the area of wages, benefits, education, job loss, off shoring, corporate power, environement, war, NSA, etc. Likewise, I also believe Miss Opportunity isn't the dedicated champion the LGBT community can depend on.

On the other hand, if warning you away from Hillary makes me an enemy of LGBT in your mind, nothing I can say will change your mind and I have wasted my time in reply.

I just posted on the same issue about the Snowden leak and NSA spying. Whether Snowden was a hero or a zero is not the big story except to the extent that whistleblowing now is a life sentence for anyone doing it. The real story that had its 15 minutes was the spying. All emails and phone calls recorded by our government and accessible to hundreds of thousands of government employees and contractors, not to mention several corporations. All this in violation of our Constitution!
Even here I bet there are more stories about Snowden's guilt or innocence rather than the spying itself.
The media oligarchs do whatever the advertisers or Plutocrats want, not to mention their own self interest considering they all own other companies with their own dirt to cover up and interests to advance. We could change this if people would stop fighting the symptoms and attack the root problem that causes almost all of the others, campaign finance (legal bribery). This is what allows them to control our government, along with the media's assistance.

William is making a defining point with the thread. Is this OP being read or thought about seriously, or is it going to get knee jerk replies?

the "Wag the Dog" effect that we discussed in my International Relations class today. The "author" (aka. the media) is pushing less important stories, while giving less airtime to stories that have more of an impact on ordinary people. As usual, they rely on the gullibility of the general public.

President Obama Reacts to Netanyahu's Address to Congress

By Bloomberg Business - 2015-03-03

President Barack Obama talks about today's speech to a joint session of Congress by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In his address, Netanyahu said an emerging U.S. agreement with Iran would backfire and ensure that the Islamic Republic would gain a nuclear arsenal.

Obama continues working on real peace, while media spins trivialities. Talk about 'wagging the dog.'

in Alabama is pissing me off to the extreme. Our only hope is when it goes before the Supreme Court, under the 5th Circuit's decision to bump it.

We aren't going away. They can dream of little aborted babies going to heaven, men that are compassionate and kind but murdered because they wear a skirt, and cracking the skulls of the public with the "Good Book" because we aren't giving in, going away or getting lost.

I've had some bad words about Hoovers FBI, but this is 2015 - here is a situation that screams out for their help! That tired scream from the downtrodden. One that shouldn't even be happening in America the richest fucking nation on the planet!

Did we go backward from the Civil Rights movement? Certainly with 50 years passing, we should see a much more proactive law enforcement tackling issues from Ferguson to the rogue Alabama SC.

They can get pissed about pot and torrents, but not a persons basic civil rights? How about an entire FUCKING TOWN? How about an entire FUCKING STATE!?

When will this special form of abuse be taken to task? 2015. No excuses.

That story matters a great deal.

I'm not sure why there's so much discussion here about Hillary, in terms of she's the devil incarnate or she's the only logical nominee. Personally I'd like to see other nominees. But why go round and round about it in a circular manner? I doubt it's changing anyone's mind very much.

Whereas this Alabama thing is a flagrant violation of federal law. It also directly harms people. It's just wrong.
