Perry Also Used a Private Email Account
March 5, 2015 By Taegan Goddard
Rick Perry was among the first of GOP presidential hopefuls to criticize Hillary Clinton for using a personal email account for government business, the Texas Tribune reports.
Perry said the findings add to a pattern of non-transparency
Its an ethical issue thats going to have to be addressed.
However, Perry is no stranger to using a personal email account to discuss state business, according to two lawmakers familiar with email exchanges involving the governor that surfaced two years ago. The extent to which Perry used his personal account over the years in unclear, but legislators and open-government advocates said it seriously undercuts his criticism of Clinton.

(15,438 posts)John Ellis Bush did it. Chris Christie did it. Scott Walker did it. Colin Powell did it. And that's a-okay with M$M...but if a Democrat does it, and if that Democrat is a threat to the chances of another Republican easing into the White House - all HELL BREAKS LOSE.
This is just another non-scandal like Benghazi since the latter fizzled out. This is why I'm not taking this "EmailGate" seriously. Just more whining by the HillaryHaters.

No mention of Perry or Jeb in those stories, though. And even if they'd been mentioned, I suspect that NPR would have immediately disclaimed that being governor is very different from being Secretary of State.

(45,109 posts)Has no one seen this? Democrats are held to a different standard by the media. The "sins" of the Democrats do not get swept under the rug, their "sins" get shouted from the rooftops. 24/7. Any Democratic politician and any Democrat should know that. If they don't if they haven't seen that, they aren't paying attention.

(8,352 posts)if personal email was used for state business and not managed, archived, or allowed to be transparent.
One significant differences though is that Perry did not have a damned email server in his home. You do know that any of his private emails through a commercial account like Gmail or Yahoo can be successfully subpoenaed and retrieved. That can not occur with a private email server in her home. We do not know who managed it? We do not know who had administrator access? Were emails deleted permanently without backups? Were these servers ever compromised or hacked?
Unfortunately this is a bigger deal than many want to face.

(43,867 posts)This is a political lesson some younger DUers should learn.
No matter what candidate A is criticized for, candidate B has likely done it, too. The difference is we just haven't heard about it yet. This goes for general elections AND primary elections.

Wonderful.
