Michael Brown's Parents Plan Lawsuit Against Darren Wilson, Ferguson

Lawyers for the family of Michael Brown said Thursday they are gearing up for a wrongful-death lawsuit against Ferguson, Missouri, police and Officer Darren Wilson — a day after federal prosecutors cleared the ex-cop in the unarmed teenager's fatal shooting.

The suit will be filed "very shortly," lawyer Anthony Gray said at a news conference, and will include evidence that will present a "more clear, more accurate picture about what took place that day." Wilson previously told a grand jury that he feared for his life during the Aug. 9 encounter with 18-year-old Brown on a Ferguson street.

Justice was denied them by a crooked DA and a complicit system. A civil suit will not be the same as a criminal one, but I hope they win just the same. At least the facts will come out.

gutted civil rights law.. from the link..

"Brown had the right to “life itself,” too. Wilson took it away—and there’s almost nothing the federal government can do about it. The KKK began its reign of terror in 1865. The brutal Selma assault on civil rights protesters occurred in 1965. And in 2014, we still don’t have a federal law to protect unarmed black boys from getting gunned down by cops in the street."

The report says that the evidence--including the accounts of the most credible witnesses--suggests that, once outside the car, Wilson did not fire at Brown until Brown ran towards Wilson.

On Michael Brown this poster says.. "Their son was a criminal who attacked a cop. After he stole from a store and assaulted an old man. They won't see a thin dime from this. Except for movie rights, book deals, etc." rw garbage.. I'm "shocked" it's on DU.

JURY RESULTS

I added my explanation too late, I see, so it wasn't included.

What I tried to add is as follows:

Their son is deceased. His fate was met, because he was jaywalking.

The above needs to be understood before you can fully understand it all.

Until we can acknowledge the distrust, between both the police, and the community they are policing, it's useless.

We need to figure out how something that should have been so routine, as far as dealing with teens, turned into a dead teen on the street.

I know I will get shit for saying that, but it looks like Brown did charge Wilson.

I do think, though, that the white contractor that said Brown at first had his hands out in front of him and was saying "okay okay" (about 8 okays) had no reason to lie about that. One possibility that seems consistent with the blood evidence is that Brown tried to surrender, but then Wilson fired at him and so Brown charged Wilson in a desperate attempt to defend himself.

I need to look at the report again and think about it some more.

In my view there will not be any damages given the DOJ report. They are filing a suit in hopes to get the city to settle for something out of court. If the city says no they will not win in court in my view.

The defendants just want it to go away, and the last thing the plaintiffs would want would be a full-blown trial, given the many witnesses who lied and changed their stories. My guess is an amount in the low six figures will do the job.
