I really think the GOP is scared of Obama making a breakthrough

On Iran...it will destroy their wet dream of controlling Iran's Oil supply

They feel that some sort of deal may be imminent and they are panicking as Obama would have really earned his stripes on foreign policy, while GOP in comparison would look foolish and petulant. So I guess it is time for them to panic.

I hope their worst nightmare comes true.

He will not honestly sign onto any peace agreement because peace doesn't help his world view. His goal is to stall and antagonize as long as possible.

They have basically adopted the goals of Netanyahu. They don't want peace with anyone because it denies them a bogey man. That and as someone else mentioned, they are terrified of Obama being a success. They realize their children or grandchildren will go to Barack Obama High School.

The US is already allies with 2 of the 3 power-players in the Middle-East: The military dictatorship and the absolutist monarchy.

Say, the US came to friendly terms with the third power-player, the theocracy.

And now let us assume the US really, really wants to get something done in the Middle-East. The US wouldn't be able to bomb its way to success, because we're all "friends" now.
There would be talks and negotiations and more talks and more negotiations and stalling and protests and even more talks and even more negotiations... And maybe 20 years after the US proposed something, it would get a severly watered down version in return.

For example:
The US is "friends" with Israel.
For how long has the US been trying to talk Israel into a peaceful solution with the Palestinians?
How many more decades will it take for the US to talk Israel into ending the occupation and normalizing its relationship with the Palestinians?

If Israel weren't a special friend of the US, there would already be embargoes in place and plausibly deniable support for forces seeking to destabilize Israel. And next time Israel kills a few thousand Palestinians in Gaza, the US would lead an international coalition bombing Israel to hell in retaliation.

But we are all friends.
Friends talk.
Friends never get shit done.

If your demand is somewhat acceptable for all involved, there is no problem in talking your way to it.
I suppose the GOP has the opinion that it won't be able to achieve its demand by talking other nations into it. That's why they want the talking to stop.
