Ex-Fox Newser tells CNN that O’Reilly has ‘lied so many times’

Ex-Fox Newser tells CNN that O’Reilly has ‘lied so many times’

By Erik Wemple March 9

The headline at the top of yesterday’s segment of Brian Stelter’s CNN program “Reliable Sources” is cautious: “New developments in Bill O’Reilly exaggeration controversy.”

The guest was less cautious. Eric Burns, a former Fox News host, argued that O’Reilly “lies” and has “lied so many times.”

Those remarks were, of course, references to the controversy over O’Reilly’s statements about his foreign reporting adventures — in Argentina, El Salvador, Northern Ireland and, a bit more domestically, Florida. Here’s a (previously published) breakdown of some of the points:

serendipitously just before seeing this post, that it would be a good test of Snark Power to see if we can bring down O'Reilly by making a laughingstock of him in the public mind. People with the requisite skills could make cartoons featuring Billo's face crudely photoshopped into all sorts of historical scenes, etc.

This is a great source for the root material.

Kill five people and they put you in prison. Kill three million and they just sort of applaud in a confused way.

He cited a nonexistent "Paris Business Review" that claimed his French Boycott (he took credit for being the 1st person to call for one) was successful in harming the France economy.

I used to torture myself by watching his show in those days, my blood would boil because he literally told lies & half-truths every show.
