Huh? Did I really hear what I thought I heard??

At the end of Lawrence O'Donnell's show, he talked about a poll for replacements for Jon on TDS. It said something like 19% want Tina Fey (OK no problem with that - she would be great) but then, right behind her was something like 16% wanted Dennis Miller. Unfunny, right winger Dennis F'in Miller - on the Daily Show? Someone please tell me that the mushrooms in last night's omelet have just kicked in. Did I hear that right? Or is this a behind the scenes attempt to have TDS taken over by the right. Don't think that would ever happen but - WTF??!!

No self respecting fan of the Daily show would have ever voted for Miller. But given their various attempts at creating their own conservative version of TDS, which all crashed and burned within weeks because they were so bad, they may be hoping to stage a coup by getting their "Foxies" to troll the polls. Like I said, never gonna happen. That show would tank in a month.

...but not for the reasons they intended.

It was SOOOO awful as comedy that I felt compelled to watch it just to cringe at how bad it was.

They enjoy cruelty too much to be seen as comedy by normal people.

They would laugh if a one legged man on crutches fell on ice and broke his remaining leg.
Extra guffaws if he got an infection and that leg needed to be amputated too.

are probably liberals. It often astonishes me how little people pay attention to what someone actually says or does. There was a time when some people here on DU thought that John McCain was some sort of liberal, and there was a fantasy a while back that he'd switch parties and become a Democrat.

But back to comedians. Bill Maher is not a card-carrying liberal. I have often been horrified at what he says, to the point where I haven't watched him in quite a while now. Probably the fairest thing to say about him is that he does make up his own mind about everything, and doesn't fit any labels at all.

If I were in charge, I'd let The Daily Show end with the departure of Jon Stewart. It's been his show for a long time now, so much so that it should end. If they want to put on some other fake news show in that time slot, it should be something new and different. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen. Someone else will get the gig, and that person will be good, or not, and forty years from now we'll still have The Daily Show, hosted by someone who probably isn't even born just yet.

I guess that I just assumed that most liberals know that Dennis Miller went over to the dark side years ago. My mistake.

But all too often, people think that something that was true in the past is still true today.

I'll admit that I haven't paid any attention to Dennis Miller in many years.

Isn't it nice when things just work out? All these left wing voices leaving the air, and no one had to lift a finger to make it happen.

And he's hilarious.
