1. George W. Bush (2001-2009; R)
[image][/image]
Lying about WMDs to get us into Iraq which in turn killed 100,000 people altogether, war crimes, waterboarding terrorists, waited five days to do something about Hurricane Katrina, stole 2000 election, tax cuts for rich, 2007 recession, etc.
2. Andrew Johnson (1865-1869; D)
[image][/image]
This is a country for white men, and by God, as long as I am President, it shall be a government for white men, vetoed civil rights bill
3. John Adams (1797-1801; F)
[image][/image]
Alien and sedition acts
4. Franklin Pierce (1853-1857; D)
[image][/image]
Wanted to expand slavery
5. Calvin Coolidge (1923-1929; R)
[image][/image]
Along with the corrupt Harding, his policies caused the Great Depression
6. Herbert Hoover (1929-1933; R)
[image][/image]
Although a good person, he failed to do much about the Great Depression. FDR's New Deal may not have been a complete success, but they worked better than anything Hoover tried
7. Warren G. Harding (1921-1923; R)
[image][/image]
Corrupt administration, policies are basically responsible for the Great Depression
8. Ronald Reagan (1981-1989; R)
[image][/image]
Inequality among Americans, failed to do anything about AIDS, hated unions, fired airport strike workers, felt homelessness wasn't a problem, cut food stamps, cut Social Security, left us with a bad economy and large debt, etc.
9. William Taft (1909-1913; R)
[image][/image]
Refused to let Congress pass legislation to let blacks vote
10. James Buchanan (1857-1861; D)

Pretty much allowed the Civil War to happen

(7,570 posts)Without that clown, there never would have been a Dubya. His thoroughly corrupt administration laid the fertile soil for almost everything that is wrong with this country today. More than thirty years, we've suffered with his shit.

(51,076 posts)are who is causing all the problems today and during the clinton years. Carter had to deal with them before the reagan years began. many were holdovers from the nixonain years or were schooled by them.
I don't and won't ever believe that reagan was anything except a card reader, a figure head, a dunce if you will.
Frank Cannon
(7,570 posts)The same assholes that are running things today.
I agree that Reagan was pretty much an animatronic puppet throughout almost all of his two terms.

(21,786 posts)Not really sure how a list of "worst presidents ever" can omit Grant (whose administration was plagued by scandal and corruption, much like Harding's 50-odd years later) or Tyler (most of whose cabinet resigned, and who was disliked by his own party), and Nixon ("if the president does it, it's not illegal" .

(512 posts)Other than Watergate, he wasn't a bad president. Not great, but not horrible either.

(7,570 posts)Hard to believe that compared to today's Republicans, Nixon looks like a pinko liberal.
There's his enemies list, his use of the IRS against said enemies and others, his bringing the segregationist establishment into the Republican Party, and crusade to deport John Lennon to name a few of his egregious acts.
He was a horrid president.

(512 posts)some overrated singer, its an act that's ''egregious'', and therefore, he was a ''horrid'' president?

(2,571 posts)Nice how you failed to address the other points I mentioned. Maybe the christmas bombing of Hanoi will be considered horrid.
Interesting to see people defending Nixon on Democratic underground.

(20,166 posts)As I include in list in a post below, the bombing of Laos, undermining peace talks with N. Vietnam, and helping to overthrow Allende in Chile are just a few of the really shitty things he did.

(3,714 posts)Don't think I've ever seen John Adams listed among the worst before.

John Adams was a terrible president, and it hurts me to say that because I happen to be related to him.
EDIT: I'm not the only one who thinks that

(2,097 posts)Taft was a great man who was a mediocre president, placing him in some good company (Madison, JQ Adams, Carter).
Hays, on the other hand, engineered a backroom deal for the presidency (after losing the popular vote by 25000 votes out of 850,000 cast -- a 3 point spread! Bush was a piker by comparison...) and paid it off by ending Reconstruction and allowing the effective re-enslaving of Southern blacks. There's no contest.

(45,491 posts)Adams doesn't belong on the list, yes, the Alien and Sedition act sucked, but this Country in its infancy is not the same as the Country today. Adams was also one of the few Founding Father Presidents that was anti-slavery.

(6,476 posts)come on-that's crap. Adams is almost universally considered a top 10-15 ranked President. Taft belongs in the mid-range of American Presidents
