Are the 47 Signers of the letter to Iran guilty of Treason?

Just want to see where we are on this. Also I hesitated but did put in an option for those who agree with what they did; I don't know if there is anybody here who fits that description, but felt I needed to include it as an option.

No - they are not Traitors. They are acted unwisely and of malice but they aren't Traitors

The 47 Neo-Confederates guilty of treason according to the U.S. Constitution? No. BlueCaliDem Mar 2015 #1
Not legally, but there is not much downside to calling their actions traitorous. FSogol Mar 2015 #2

If folks want to call out their inappropriate conduct, more power to them...
Laughably, they seem to know less about the American Constitution than the government of Iran.

I feel that traitor/treason as an attack has been watered down by our friends on the right, who couldn't get enough of calling Democrats traitors in the Bush era. But I also remember being angry at that attack in that period because treason is a capital crime - accusing someone of treason opens the possibility of execution.

That doesn't necessarily hold water in this situation; for one most liberals don't favor the death penalty. For another, the term has been watered down so that people don't hear it and think "execution."

a roach infestation by turning out all of the lights and pretending they aren't there. That's what Democrats have done far too often, and it has emboldened said Republican roaches.

And part of the problem we have in government is the lack of willingness to hold Republicans accountable when they break the law.

I'm not sure if our Democratic leaders are lazy, stupid or incompetent, but they have failed to rein in Republicans every chance they get.

You get what you put in, and if it is insufficient, you get what you deserve.
