Univision fires anchor for racist Michelle Obama insult

http://money.cnn.com/2015/03/12/media/univision-fires-rodner-figueroa-michelle-obama/

Univision has sacked a talk show host who likened First Lady Michelle Obama to characters in the movie "Planet of the Apes."

The Spanish-language network announced that Rodner Figueroa, an Emmy Award-winning host and presenter, had been fired for the remarks he made on Wednesday.

"Yesterday during our entertainment program 'El Gordo y La Flaca' Rodner Figueroa made comments regarding First Lady Michelle Obama that were completely reprehensible and in no way reflect Univision's values or views," Univision said in a statement. "As a result, Mr. Figueroa was immediately terminated."

In a broadcast on Wednesday, Figueroa said, "Michelle Obama looks like she's part of the cast of 'Planet of the Apes.'" Figueroa made the comments as a photo of the first lady was shown on screen.

Holy shit, racist as hell and dumb to boot!

that's the way to behave.

I like the "immediately terminated" part. There is no space for racist bullshit.

Update, 6:22 p.m. EST: TMZ reported that, according to Figueroa’s representatives, they were told by a Univision executive that Obama’s office complained about the remark, leading to his firing.

Figueroa also reportedly wrote a letter to her denying any racist intent, as he is both biracial and gay.

“I’ve been an activist for causes in favor of minorities, as I have been discriminated against,” he allegedly wrote, adding, “I voted openly twice for your husband, Barack Obama.”

anyone who wasn't in a cave for the last 70 years should KNOW that you do NOT talk about ANY black woman that way, much less the FLOTUS. I don't have a lot of sympathy for him.
