Two Police Officers
Quotes from AG Holder and President Obama..
snip//
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder sharply condemned the shootings of police Wednesday night as a "disgusting and cowardly attack."
"What happened last night was a pure ambush," Holder said. "This was not someone trying to bring healing to Ferguson. This was a damn punk, a punk, who was trying to sow discord."
President Obama, in an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live TV show Thursday night, said "we don't yet know what happened" in the shooting but offered his prayers to the wounded officers and their families.
"There's no excuse for criminal acts,'' the president said. "They're criminals. They need to be arrested. And then what we need to do is make sure that like-minded, good-spirited people on both sides, law-enforcement who have a terrifically tough job and people who understand they don't want to be stopped and harassed because of their race, that we're able to work together to try and come up with some good answers."

(20,043 posts)This community needs to heal. Part of that healing will require some justice. Only then can some unity and mutual respect and trust being. IMO.
My thoughts are with this community and I hope that they are allowed to begin to heal without anymore interference from agitators.
Cha
(297,323 posts)of the matter is how important it is for healing and their thoughts and prayers are with the police officers and their families.
Old and In the Way
(37,540 posts)They have been through a horrible time in their life, but they understand the difference between unacceptable police actions and an unknown agenda that wants to either jumpstart a race war or create a complete breakdown of civil society. Most important for them to send this message to the entire US.

Parenting kids is a very very hard job. Obviously Brown's parents weren't up to the challenge. They failed that kid in every way.
Weren't they the ones screaming "Burn this bitch down!"?

(7,540 posts)"Their son was a criminal who attacked a cop. After he stole from a store and assaulted an old man. They won't see a thin dime from this. Except for movie rights, book deals, etc.
Now, tell me, which part of that is untrue?
Did their son attack a cop?
Did their son steal from a store?
Did their son assault an old man?
Is ANY of that untrue??
You want an honest discussion? You better have some facts to back yourself up.

It's not me you find offensive...it's the facts.
Spazito
(50,365 posts)factual is not your forte, smearing a family who has suffered a tragedy with appalling posts.
You make the false assumption I was not aware of the incident you are so eager to spread far and wide. I was aware and my heart went out to a family in great pain. It's called empathy, something I find sadly lacking in your posts.
Isoldeblue
(1,135 posts)You take a small fact and create a whole racist scenario around it to fit your bigoted views. If you had a little bit of veracity in your being, you'd just come out and say, I hate black people. But you do it in a sneaky way, claiming thin facts to support your ugly views..
Well, that's more than enough time spent on ugly you.

Obama Discusses Ferguson With Jimmy Kimmel
snip//
LOS ANGELES President Obama on Thursday said that whoever shot at police officers in Ferguson, Mo., this week were criminals and should be arrested, but added that their actions should not detract from the civil rights issues that have been raised.
He said that protesters there had a legitimate right to be angry about their treatment at the hands of the police.
What had been happening in Ferguson was oppressive and objectionable and was worthy of protest, Mr. Obama said during an appearance on ABCs Jimmy Kimmel Live. But there was no excuse for criminal acts.
Mr. Obama cited the recent Justice Department report on Ferguson, which he said found a whole structure that indicated both racism and just a disregard for what law enforcement is supposed to do. But he repeated his belief that what happened in the Missouri city was not unique, but its also not the norm.

K&R and thanks for posting Cha!
I hope that the people of Ferguson see how the persistent peaceful protest has netted some gains - and not only for their town, but hopefully as a message to thousands of other towns and even big cities, that are subjecting their residents to the same treatment.
Cha
(297,323 posts)like the rest of us.. only he has the loudspeaker. Really appreciate the statement of outrage while calling for continued Peaceful Protests to keep the movement going forward.
"... but hopefully as a message to thousands of other towns and even big cities, that are subjecting their residents to the same treatment."
Yes! All eyes are on Ferguson at ground zero.. it has to succeed after all they've been through and all the good work AG Holder and President Obama have done to weed out those who needed it so Ferguson has a chance to flourish.
So sad and I'm so Sorry that Michael Brown had to die to expose the culture of racism that has been so ingrained for years.
You're Welcome, BRDS
