Maybe a lot of the consternation about ideology on this board boils down to this.

Some see liberalism or progressivism or whatever it is called nowadays as transactional,surrounding how a person feels about a core group of issues... Others see liberalism as a set of values such as respect, tolerance, compassion, and empathy and how these values can be made concrete through the legislative process...


I will throw my lot in with the latter group.
