was running in the Israeli election. Hence it is not a defeat for him despite the author's viewpoint.

Israel does not want peace. They've proved that over, and over, and over again for the last seventy years. Why seek peace when you're winning the fight?

Palestine may or may not want peace, but either way they have exactly zero power or influence to get it - or to fight against it.

And Obama has no more interest in an independent Arab state arising in the middle east. hell, look at all the money and effort we put towards keeping hte existing once in states of repression and anarchy? Why would we want another one?

The latest election results suggest that about one Israeli in six wants peace (or at least, wants it enough to vote for a party in favour of it).

It's harder to gauge for the Palestinians, because their democracy is broken - I guess the number is more than 1/2, but less than 9/10, but that's just guesswork.

In the meantime, it's the 5/6 of voters that are banging swords on shields and screaming for blood that you ought to be concerned about.

He needs to focus on areas where he can actually do some good. Any progress on this subject will be via the UN, not speaking with Israel

with that piece is it source. First the article is not snarky, for once towards Kerry or the Obama administration. Plus it stated that Netanyahu deliberatly sabotaged the peace talks.
Of course Kerry didnt ran. The columnist just explains that a third Nuttanyahou term is 1) the lost Obama and Kerry's hope to see a more open executive take office in Israel 2) a no the any possible peace process reopening as long as this extremists sits in office.
