Thought germ for the day:

Since it was explained to me that anger germs generate the most energy and staying power, here's an anger germ:

High-stakes testing as a tool to destroy public education and the teaching profession. It makes me angry. What makes me even angrier are the people who vote for politicians that support and promote high-stakes testing, and that attempt to excuse and/or justify that high-stakes testing.

They want to cash in on every facet of life. They can't stand 'public' anything, and are always looking for ways to stick in ways for the private sector to cash in.

At the root, it's capitalism's need to profit off of everything. I'd like to draw a line in the sand and quit allowing any further privatization of public services. That's a starting point.

Then I'd like to push back, and return what we've lost to the public sphere. Finally, I'd like to see capitalism go away; and, if not, at least be permanently, heavily regulated and limited.
