Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThere's already a 300+ "live thread" on Cruz' announcement on Free Republic
they're over the moon. convinced he'll win the presidency. Convinced that democrats are terrified of Cruz because he's such a winnah- and lots more delusional thinking.
He's the 2nd coming of you-know-who!
a couple of examples:
Cruz will force everyone to bring their A game to the 2016 campaign, on both sides.
Cruz is doing this for America, not necessarily for himself, because someone has to speak the truth.
Because he speaks the truth he has made many enemies, in both parties, and in the White House.
The forces of evil will array against him, and he will need our prayers to intercede for him.
The battle is joined.
My husband and I have created a six-year-old son, a three-year-old daughter, and an 18-month-old daughter. Im literally crying right now. God, please bless my country. Please bless Cruz! Hes my last hope! I mean this. I fear for my childen.
Ted Cruz is a caucasoid/white.
He is a member of that madeup group, HISPANIC, though.
Hispanics are of all races, including mixed race and many Cubans are 100% caucasoid.
Im thrilled!!! Hes always been my #1 pick. And....anyone who trashes him will be labeled a racist because hes Hispanic. They can dish it out, they better be ready to take it!
.I have to say that such a stroke as that would be epic. A political game-changer. Democrat and GOPe heads would be exploding from sea to shining sea. Could well happen, if some of my sources, usually reliable, are telling me the truth tonight.
You are absolutely correct. A Cruz/Palin ticket would rock the nation. Everyone in America would sent $10 on up and there would be a Huge War Chest. I sincerely hope he makes the announcement and Sarah accepts. Then it's off to the new America! Replenish, Repair and Restore!

(3,709 posts)This is the line that stood out to me...
A Cruz/Palin ticket would rock the nation.
The idea of this is absolutely frightening to me. I know this would never happen, but to think anyone would consider those two good for the nation, saddens me.

(15,344 posts)since Hillary did or said something in the past to offend "real" Democrats sensibilities, I'm sure they'll be on this thread in a minute to tell you there's really "no difference between Hillary Clinton and Ted Cruz"....and if we listen to those asshats...the Repukes win and the country loses.
Who the hell would have ever thought this country would elect/select "Dubwa", but hell, I was told at the time that there was "no difference between Bush and Gore"
cali
(114,904 posts)that there's no difference between her and the repuke wingnuts who are running.
I just don't want the corporate hawk Hillary as the nominee.
She's better than the repukes.
she still stinks as a dem presidential nominee.

Would Ted take her on, though? When he was at Harvard Law School he refused even to be in a study group with students who weren't graduates of the top-tier Ivy League colleges. He stood out as an assholish snob at a school that's full of them. Wouldn't he consider dumb-as-a-stump Palin, who sort of graduated only after attending something like six different not-Ivy-League colleges, a bit beneath him?
Or is he cynical enough to want her on the ticket to attract the one-handed, Cheeto-stained typists lurking in parents' basements all over America?

(11,175 posts)I agree with cyberswede in #37.
Disclaimer: I don't know if cyberswede would agree with my term "completely idiotic" and it's harsher than I usually use myself -- but already, more than a year before the Democratic National Convention, some of the Clinton supporters have exhausted my patience. Is it really impossible to have a discussion on the merits without silliness like this?

(11,175 posts)In #10, maxrandb said that there was an "idiotic 'I'll hold my breath until Hillary's not the nominee' thread here on DU."
In #12, cali responded to #10 by referring to it as "making shit up".
In #14, you responded to #12 by saying, "The poster is right" and linking to this thread, in which WilliamPitt said, "I do not want Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic nominee."
I interpreted your response to cali as meaning that, in your opinion, "I'll hold my breath until Hillary's not the nominee" was a fair characterization of WilliamPitt's statement. (It's likely that you've identified the thread that maxrandb meant, so that's probably maxrandb's view of it also, but that's not 100% certain, whereas your endorsement of the "hold my breath" language is unambiguous.)
That's my basis for saying that it was your characterization. It wasn't yours originally but you adopted it. If I've misunderstood your post, I apologize, and I'd welcome your explanation of what you actually did mean.

(15,344 posts)but it would be nice if they didn't work so hard at depressing the votes of other Democrats.
You may be willing to "die on that hill", but the country can't take one more "shellacking" at the polls in 2016.
We need to pick our battles...and right now, to borrow a phrase from the wingnuts, we need to take our country back.
Our battle should not be with the presumptive Democratic nominee. It should be with the "frickin" asshats that are taking a blowtorch to our unions, our foreign policy, our environment, our civility, our economic prosperity, our social safety net, and our country. These fuckers are still fighting to roll back the New Deal and put St. Ronnie on Mount Rushmore...and they won't stop until they win.
Do we really need to help them in their quest?
jeff47
(26,549 posts)Then perhaps we should stop running candidates that seek common ground with them.

(38,613 posts)You do realize that one can be a Democrat and not like Clinton as a candidate, right. You do realize that? Right? It's not rocket science. Every single person who voted for Obama in the primaries did it.
I know the new marching orders are "discredit anyone who isn't a Clinton Cheerleader, whatever it takes" but a little subtlety can go a long way
cyberswede
(26,117 posts)He's just stating that he doesn't want her to be the nominee. The post isn't nasty and only discusses her positions/votes (as opposed to attacking her).
