George Zimmerman: Killing Trayvon was God’s plan, and wishing he lived is ‘almost blasphemous’
David Edwards
23 Mar 2015 at 15:30 ET

George Zimmerman in a recent interview accused President Barack Obama of a “dereliction of duty” by using “racially charge comments” to divide the public against him during his murder trial.

Although Zimmerman turned down many requests for interviews after he was acquitted for killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, he spoke to his divorce lawyer about the case in an interview recorded earlier this month.

****

The former neighborhood watchman insisted that he had a “clean conscience” after he was found to be not guilty.

“I believe God has his plans, and for me to second-guess them would be hypocritical, almost blasphemous,” he said when asked if the encounter that ended Martin’s life would have turned out differently.

And according to Zimmerman, “Barack Hussein Obama” was the government official who was the most unfair to him “by far.”

And I think John Guy's arguments in particular were impassioned and strong.

But I do think the prosecution wasn't as aggressive towards some witnesses as they ought to have been, and they lost a key opportunity to lay out the glaring logical holes in Zimmerman's various claims.

But Juror B37 on the jury was huge. During jury selection, she said she had a concealed weapons permit and she described the peaceful protests in Sanford as "riots". After the verdict, she was the first juror to speak up and she announced she was writing a book on the trial. Everything about her seems as though she was forceful and opinionated, and I'm sure that played a big role in the jury room.

I think what happened that night was that Zimmerman wanted to detain Trayvon (for the crime of...um...walking?) until police came. When Trayvon resisted, Zimmerman thought showing his gun would stop him. Of course, that only made Trayvon to cry for help. Zimmerman was pissed off (he already was having a bad evening) and panicky, so he shot him.

I thought he would lay low and not attract attention to himself after all the infamy surrounding his trial. I mean, has anyone heard from Casey Anthony after her trial?

But I now know I was wrong, and the people saying he'd be back in the news were right. So far, he's been detained by police after an alternation with his ex-wife and her father, arrested for domestic violence twice, involved in a road rage incident, and been in the news several other times.

I'm sure he'll be in the news again in about six months for something else he's done. Hopefully it won't be fatal. The man is a ticking time bomb.

Mon Mar 23, 2015, 04:16 PM
Mar 2015

So let's get this straight. The omnipotent benevolent god figure planned the murder of an innocent kid as he walked home after buying candy. That was part of his "plan" and Zimmerman was his holy vessel to carry out this murder. Nevermind that any omnipotent being who would plan the murder of an innocent child is a piece of shit clearly not worthy or worship.

Then it stands to reason that Obama's statements on the murder are also part of god's plan. So isn't it therefore blasphemous for him to criticize Obama's statements?

Or are only some things part of his plan? How do you determine what is part of the plan and what isn't?

Fucking ridiculous.

does not make someone a "Zimmerman apologist". Zimmerman is a despicable racist who went looking for trouble that night but based upon the evidence that was presented at trial, from the witnesses and the forensics, the jury was correct in not convicting him of murder beyond a reasonable doubt.

Similarly, I think OJ Simpson was very likely guilty of murder, but I recognize that problems with the prosecution case (in particular, the presence of the racist cop Mark Furhman on the investigation team) could have introduced sufficient reasonable doubt in the case for the jury to find OJ not guilty. Based upon your logic that would make me an "OJ Simpson apologist".
