Conservative Media's Worst Predictions For Obamacare That Never Came To Pass

www.mediamatters.org/blog/2015/03/23/conservative-medias-worst-predictions-for-obama/203003

On the anniversary of health care reform's passage, Media Matters looked back at right-wing media's most dire predictions.

In November 2009, Glenn Beck declared that the possible passage of health care reform "will be a nail in the coffin of America" and would cause the public to "all wallow in misery." Obamacare would be "the end of prosperity in America forever ... the end of America as you know it."

Beck later predicted health care granted Obama "the pieces the president needs to control every aspect of your life," including control over whether and when people can have children.

Rush Limbaugh argued in 2009 that Obamacare was "aimed at robbing you of your humanity and forcing you to bow down to the state." He predicted, "All of us will be slaves" because "the road to serfdom ... is paved in Obamacare."

The next year, Limbaugh forecast that health care reform would lead to "250 million uninsured."

CNBC's Jim Cramer predicted in March 2010 that Obamacare would topple the stock market, arguing it was the "single biggest impediment to the stock market going higher." (Notably, the DOW and Nasdaq neared all-time highs in March 2015.)

You can blame 60 Minutes for the for profit news - they were the first TV news show to make a profit.

Reagan repealed the Fairness Doctrine - no accident there.

Media Matters and other watchdogs who use relatively new technology should be a standard on TV news but that would be like pro wrestling admitting that it's scripted.

That and repetition.

You used to never talk about religion or politics at work. Then came the blast fax (rw talking points faxed to people at work daily) then talk radio then the end of the Fairness Doctrine. Now even "liberal" news channels such as MSNBC have the Scarboroughs on air to get your mind set before you leave for work. No crazy other ideas or opinions to clutter up the water cooler talk. At the consumers choice they can be told the same thing via TV and radio all day and then come home to pundits discussing the same nonsense as established fact ( from that morning). 16 times - present a product to someone 16 times and the likelihood of them "buying it" shoots through the roof - it's a standard sales trick.

If the liberal media ever existed and held their prediction to the fire... By the way we all pretty much predicted the Iraq war would end in total disaster, yet somehow ISIS is something the liberals aren't able to deal with because we don't understand it. Deal with... fuck we predicted this shit before the war. They were predicting flowers and chocolates and now they want to tell us again how to fix this mess. Good god I can't stand the bullshit narratives in this country.
