The smartest guy I ever met was also the stupidest guy I ever met.

My Captain in the Army was a Rhodes Scholar but couldn't catch his ass in a dark closet.

Just because Ted Cruz went to an Elite school doesn't mean he's smart....I mean----think Dubya.

1. True, admission to a school doesn't mean shit, much of the time.

I don't think Cruz qualifies as smart in any manner, maybe lucky or connected, but not smart.

I have turds smarter than that.

2. Education can be used and it can be abused and it can be used and abused to pander and pretend, but mostly it is good.

And mix educstion with belief in magical thinking and Old Testament fire and brimstone and you get "Cruz Smart", much like "Carson Smart", or "Mullah Smart".

Alan Dershowitz called Cruz one of the most brilliant students he had taught at Harvard Law School, and yet at times he sounds like a complete idiot. Sometimes I think he may be out and out crazy, but maybe crazy like a fox. Or is he just so into himself that he just does not realize what he's saying.

I don't think he deserved them. As far as carnival cruise is concerned I don't know. He may be a strategic genius like Rove. What is really important is that his vision for the country is very bad. If this clown gets elected and the pukes hold both houses and the SC it will be very bad.

He's not necessarily crazy, or dumb.

What he definitely is is corrupt.

9. All this discussion of if Cruz is smart or not doesn't matter

His actions tell us all we need to know about him. I think there is a tendency to assume that smart people will also act in the most logical manner, and that has been proven incorrect many times. I've known brilliant scientists who are nuttier than fruitcakes outside of their specialty. In this primary season alone we have Cruz, Carson and Jindal, all highly educated, all nuttier than a can of peanuts.

The funny thing is that Repubs in general, especially the fundy types, hate education and despise smart people. Maybe that is the answer to the conundrum.
