Exposed: Mike Pence's 2000 Congressional Campaign Site Was A War On LGBT People And Women

http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/davidbadash/exposed_mike_pence_s_2000_congressional_campaign_site_was_a_war_on_lgbt_people_and_women

If anyone is surprised Gov. Mike Pence signed the anti-gay license to discriminate bill known as the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and refuses to sign an LGBT nondiscrimination bill, they have only to look at his deep anti-LGBT history.

In 1988 and 1990, Mike Pence tried to win a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He lost each time. But apparently, the third time is the charm. In 2000, Pence ran for and won a seat in Congress, Indiana's 2nd District. To get there, Pence had no trouble making sure voters knew who he was targeting.

Thanks to the Internet Archive, which stores many versions of websites, Pence's 2000 campaign website has been preserved.

It includes stunningly harsh anti-LGBT and anti-women rhetoric that sounds like it could have been written by the Moral Majority, the Family Research Council, the American Family Association, or other hate groups, past or present.

"Congress should oppose any effort to put gay and lesbian relationships on an equal legal status with heterosexual marriage."

"Congress should oppose any effort to recognize homosexual’s (sic) as a 'discreet and insular minority' entitled to the protection of anti-discrimination laws similar to those extended to women and ethnic minorities."

"Congress should support the reauthorization of the Ryan White Care Act only after completion of an audit to ensure that federal dollars were no longer being given to organizations that celebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus. Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior."

that she decided not to sign a similar bill in Arizona last year.

As for Pence, he has become the face of intolerance and bigotry. So much so that Arkansas' governor seems to be getting a pass.

Governor's Dense's claims that he hates discrimination are lies just like his claim that the intent of the hate act was not to discriminate. Governor Dense has a long history of opposing LGBT rights http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/mike-pence-gay-marriage-religious-freedom

his voters act all surprised and innocent when he signs laws like this. They got exactly who they voted for.
