University of Buffalo cancels sporting events in Muncie

Source: WISH-TV

Some cities outside of Indianapolis say they are starting to see the potential economic impact of the existing Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

The University of Buffalo announced it’s cancelling upcoming tennis and softball games at Ball State University in Muncie. The Assistant Athletic Director says he’s hoping to find a neutral ground to play.

A spokesperson for Ball State University tells 24-Hour News 8 that she was not aware of any cancellations on campus because of the Religious Freedom controversy.

Not only is the University of Buffalo making a statement, but the Mid-American Conference and the National Forensic Association have also reconsidered future games and tournaments in Muncie.

RW bigots is the norm in such places. It is likely due to their existence that you were mistaken about Buffalo.
I hate travelling away from the city because of it.

Buffalo's men's basketball team is on the rise, with former NBA player & now head coach Bobby Hurley leading a near-upset of West Virginia in this year's NCAA Tournament. If Buffalo's basketball teams decide not to play games in Indiana (in Buffalo's Mid-American Conference, the one conference member from Indiana is Ball State), THAT will be a money hit.

Unfortunately, UB football has no scheduled games in Indiana in the first place for 2015. I hope they aren't scheduled to play Ball State in 2016.
