A HERETIC I AM

Well! Looky there! There is a GoFundMe Account set up for that pizza joint in Indiana.

it has raised over $56,000 in 14 hours! YAY!

Some of the comments are pretty funny, many claiming they have to stand up for their "Religious liberties" because, you know.....hating people is a liberty and all.

http://www.gofundme.com/MemoriesPizza

Now I honestly don't want them run out of business, they'll do that on their own if they make crappy pizza and have bad service practices. What is so amazing to me about all this, and not just Indiana but everywhere this sort of thing makes news, is that so many religiously fundamentalist types think that they have god on their side when they express hatred toward a particular type or class of human being. It's been going on a long time, I realize, it's just now we hear about it so quickly.

Go and donate a buck and that allows you to post a comment. Tell them what you think, just like that dopey sherriff who hated the ACA and then needed medical care he couldn't afford. Liberals came out in droves and gave him money, but not without a piece of their mind!

"I am so sorry for the way you have been treated. I am a proud homosexual but PLEASE do not let their actions speak for all of us. You are simply business owners trying to live your lives and having your business destroyed by others cruelty turns my stomach. I wish that I could do more, but here is a little of what I have and I will share your story to others in order to gather more support. My thoughts and hopes are with you all during this time. "

Wasn't this law just recently enacted? I don't see how it has anything do truly do with them closing their doors. People are truly subsidizing a bad business owner for failing.

I doubt very much that the person who wrote that actually identifies as gay in real life.

And yes, the owner just said yesterday or the day before that they wouldn't serve gay people, so it's impossible for the negative publicity to have put them out of business so quickly. Looks like this whole thing was a publicity stunt to show how mean the gays are - and get a little cash.

Not saying you did but it could have. I try not to partake in the practice of calling other full of shit when in a situation like this. It just stuck out as being complete bullshit to me. Lying in this manner is just beyond childish and has anger behind it yet the owner is probably puffing his chest out reading it thinking he has many in the community on his side. It is all bullshit and this bigot is being subsidized for his hate.

But the constant barrage of calls and emails, I'm sure, would have made it difficult to do business for the moment.

However, with the one threat of physical harm, which was to the building and not the people, ending in immediate arrest of the person that threatened, the business closing was just due to their lack of ability to deal with reaction to their idiotic public announcement to discriminate.

I have no pity for them. I do wish they had taken a second to look at their bigotry and how hateful their words are. But alas, they now can justify their words, move wherever they want, escape debt from bad business practices and go open somewhere else, or whatever they want to do. In less than a half a day they have received over $50k. This will grow to upwards of a quarter million in the coming days. And all because of hate.

I am going to give them $5. It's worth it to me to let them know that compassion is more important than hate.

What's that old saying? Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people?

There is huge money in deceiving people and huge money in appealing to the lowest common denominator. All you have to do is cry that you are being oppressed by this or that big ol' meany people group, and that you hug your cross and bible tighter as a result, and the fanatics will come out of the woodwork to support you.

It would not surprise me one single iota if this was so successful the owner were able to close up for good and retire to Boca.
