'I Ate Just One Apple A Day', says ex-model Victoria Dauxerre

The French National Assembly has adopted a series of measures to fight against anorexia, especially the use of underweight young women by fashion agencies. On BFM TV, the former model Victory Dauxerre has gone back on the years she ate nothing in order to be on the catwalk.

She knew the flash of cameras as she posed for top designers. And, the adrenaline rush of parading on a catwalk under the glitter. While the French deputies went on the offensive against anorexia, by voting several amendments to the Health Bill prohibiting the use of models deemed too skinny, Victoire Dauxerre came to testify on Friday night to BFMTV. She told of the hell in the race for thinness in her former profession.

Soon to be 23 years old, this young woman first recalls how her career began in modeling. "I was first spotted in the street, because I was already very thin," she says on our channel. In this business, most models are thin, and the thinner the better. "The problem is that right now, there is extreme pressure to get into a size 32 when measuring 1m80," she explains.

"To get there, you have to either not eat or take laxatives or do self-induced vomiting." Thus began a vicious circle. "The skinnier one is, the more you work on the catwalk. All the models do it," says Victory Dauxerre.

...in order to work in any profession is not only insane but also barbaric.

I know some will say "Well, she doesn't HAVE to" That's not the point. It's a horrible influence on Women. How about if men had to weigh 350 pounds in order to operate a crane ??

the body keeps its fat reserves as a last resort, consuming muscle tissue first.

Like, for example, the heart.

Not the agencies or the designer. Besides the fact that more than likely won't stop excessively thin models from being used, it is fining the wrong people. The perpetrators are the agencies that put the pressure on the models and the designers who insist on the deathly thin women

If they change that, I would be all for it.

if designers want so badly for their clothing to look "right" on a skeleton-thin frame, why not just put their clothing ON skeletons?

Real or manufactured skeletons...it wouldn't matter.

Just trot those suckers out hanging from one of those carousel things they use in the dry cleaners for storing customers' cleaned clothing.
