If you read all the interesting stuff in Revelations, when the end times are upon us it will all end in Israel just like how it all started in Israel. So for these fundie Christians, whose ultimate goal is Armageddon which includes the Rapture, if they can somehow maybe speed things along with those end-times such as well, nuclear blow-out between Israel and a few neighboring countries, then perhaps the Rapture will come sooner than later.

We've had wars in the Middle East and bombings in Israel but so far we haven't really wiped Israel out of existence. So I think for these fundies the key is total annihilation for things to kick off the end times.
