(8,434 posts)Things just need to get worse before they can get better. Let's get them worse faster so we can get to the better part.

(21,115 posts)Then explain to me again how DU is different than Redstate? Is it only because you added the Bush Family in your description that you think makes your position different?

(68,868 posts)People can contrast 1992-2000 vs 2000-2008 and tell us there's no difference between Clinton and Bush?

(8,434 posts)Hillary is a strong progressive that will fight for the 99%. I read that absolute bullshit every day here.
If Jim going to be forced to choose between real really evil and really really really evil, then I'm going whole hog and picking the worst.
It might just need to get worse before the willfully ignorant wake up and fight back.

Explanation: If you are going to vote for Bush, you don't belong on DU. One would think in 8,432 post you would have learned that. So, this site is for dems, love us or leave us!

(114,904 posts)that's natural and not nefarious, but it does leave little choice for dem voters.

(94,786 posts)Perhaps the others don't want to lose to a candidate with immense popularity in the Party (of which DU is not a representative sample). And what's stopping you or anyone else from voting for Webb, Sanders or O'Malley.
Out of curiosity, did YOU do anything to encourage a wider field? Or is that someone else's job?
cali
(114,904 posts)and it's simple common sense. They'd be idiots not to try and intimidate strong challengers.

(50,318 posts)Every American citizen is eligible to run. Of course, we have to winnow that down to the super wealthy who have the means to run. And that is one of the biggest problems. There are many brilliant people in this country who would so an amazing job as POTUS, but with elections costing in the billions, they can't even consider it. Maybe we should consider doing what some other countries do and restrict the running of an election campaign to several weeks before the vote.
Caretha
(2,737 posts)to run for President, you have to ask yourself who is paying the candidate to run. Yes, the candidate has to have a certain amount of wealth also, but that is because they have to "hob-nob" with and know the buyers.
RKP5637
(67,112 posts)much cemented big money in politics, of course, with Citizens United. How, can this be called a democracy when elections are playgrounds for the incredibly wealthy. Only $$$$$'s count. Money should be restricted, as well as campaign run times. Also, airtime should be equal, somehow, than $$$$$'s controlling visibility. In short, SCOTUS has created a F'ed mess for the majority of the population.
