Free Republic gets some media attention, in all the wrong way.

Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.

In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:

Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency. ...

Liberal progressives and other enemies of the constitution and or of Liberty itself are not welcome here. Accounts registered here by liberal progressives and other assorted trolls, malcontents and disruptors will be removed on sight or at the convenience of the site administrators.

The Rest: http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1011/Conservative_site_on_Romney_Enemies_of_the_constitution__are_not_welcome_here.html

BTW, READ THE COMMENTS. DU is mentioned also.

Then it was picked up here: http://nation.foxnews.com/mitt-romney/2011/11/01/romney-supporters-banned-free-republic

Looks like the implosion has begun.

Once Faux and the rest spend a few months telling them how great Romney is, they'll think he's the love child if Ronald Reagan and Ayn Rand. In the end, hatred of "the other" will hold the Repugnantcans together. It trumps everything.

And I love how a site that claims to support 'freedom' has the most oppressive moderators on the entire web.

But these are the same people who have already forgotten how much Bush wrecked the nation. I can see them forgetting their hatred of Romney by November.

They haven't forgotten it, they never thought it was true in the first place. No matter what happened during his misadministration, they said it was the fault of Democrats. Sure, some of them knew that was utter bullshit, but I think most of them believed it.

Romney is a Mormon. That by itself probably makes him enough of "the other" for them to maintain their hatred for him. Seriously, a lot of RW Christians hate Mormons almost as much as they hate Muslims and atheists.

RimJobs statements sound very juvenile. I can't imagine any serious Right leaning journalist would associate with Free Republic. It's more a site geared towards the intellectual level of Ped Nugent and "soon-to-be-convicted" Sheriff Arpaio.

"an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values."... he had me pegged all the way to "no core values", that's where I make my stand!

Seriously though, it's interesting that their melt-down has finally been noticed in the "establishment" RW media. I don't peek at places like Red State but am curious if they are having similar meltdowns.

This is what happens when you spend 4 years brainwashing zombie hoardes to purify, create astroturf "movements" for political purposes, feed and nurture these creations, and then suddenly pull the rug out from under them in their typically disjointed, non-empathetic devil-may-care way of operating.

Will be interesting to see what % of the repuke vote that Rmoney would lose when these folks refuse to come out at all - although they do have an option to vote in the other races. But if they sit home, that will help put some seats back into play that were lost in 2010.

The fact that people like Hatch and Lugar are on the precipice is something to watch for. Would be nice to have a Delaware redux in other states.

all they (republicans) have to do is keep on with their right ward shift into crazy extreme territory and have teabag republicans cow tow to their base and Romney will blow in their direction. With political hostage takers who don't care how bad they screw up the country or ruin people's lives to get their way they set the agenda.

Having beliefs as a republican and actually sticking to them is something that republican politicians know is nonsense, much like someone being a republican when the party itself doesn't even embrace what most self identified republicans claim they stand for.

They've long since settled into a grumpy "no-one is allowed to tell others to vote for Romney, but you are allowed to say 'I'll vote against Obama by voting for Romney'".
