Just how fucked up is America and our system of government?

The President requests Congressional authorization for war against ISIS, but Congress essentially says no oversight is needed. They shelved the war authorization bill and didn't even vote on it.

However, when it comes to a peace deal with Iran, Congress demands oversight and they're threatening to blow up the deal and take us to war.

When it comes to war, Congress doesn't care about oversight. But when it comes to making peace, Congress doesn't want to have any of it.

We can trace this directly back to the MIC and the control they have over our government. They want endless war because it's profitable.

And your metaphor has hope because it leads to new life being borne.
I am just too cynical sometimes.

and it may be beyond repair, because it can only get fixed by the very government that is bought and sold, and to even suggest fixing it means not enough money to compete for the person doing the suggesting, and that means no electoral win for them. So yeah, it's f*$ked.

... who'll get money out of politics.

Unless we can guarantee that elections hinge on votes not on dollars, we are screwed.

is that we rate our candidates by how much bribe money they can raise for their election. Everything else is a symptom of that corruption. Sure they want war, that's what the MIC spent all that money on campaign contributions for!

I think you have identified both the symptoms and the cause.
