(81,500 posts)play-acting some Rambo or Dirty Harry fantasy. NO BUSINESS WHATSOEVER!!! "Deputy." CRIMINY!!!!!!! Rank amateur and they gave him a badge and a gun and a taser and a uniform!???!!?!!!?!?!! What the hell? What did he think this was? Adult-Diaper Disneyland?
I SINCERELY hope they end that program of theirs, or whatever it is that allows them to allow some aging civilian police groupie to go out on actual calls - and ARMED!!!!! WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK????
I went out on a ride-along with cops as a reporter. But I was NOT armed in any way, I was NOT given a police uniform to wear, I was not deputized in ANY way or given a badge, much less have my photo taken all dressed up like a cop for the love of vanity, and if there had been any action, I would have been instructed to stay in the car and lay low. NOT run out with the cops after a possible suspect like some Annie-Get-Yer-Gun wannabe. And I never expected to do so or be so under ANY circumstances. I understand fully what "CIVILIAN" means. This jerk evidently didn't. Or didn't want to. Hope he got his nice big hard-on for it. Hope he also gets time behind bars!

Oh wait, maybe the judge/DA will find "extenuating circumstances" like his age, his senility, his color, his hatred of non-whites.
I think it's time the USofA starts to let the courts of the international community look at how we (mis)treat justice.

(15,882 posts)from the outside, and sad to see all that potential wasted. From one of the most progressive of states, and certainly with some real flaws, I never would have predicted they would shoot themselves in the foot and devolve into behaviors such as many seem to be embracing today.
Well, it was fun while it lasted.

(24,544 posts)We are totally highjacking this thread talking about how fine he is now but I'm sorry, I was just not expecting it!
He showed up on a couple of episodes of Community (which I LOVE with a capital L) maybe, 2-3 years ago and that was the first time I'd noticed him since he was the skinny boy in your picture and I was like "hoooooold up!! MJW has grown up and is looking mighty fine!"

(6,110 posts)All lives matter, but it looks like Black lives don't in this country. I am just heart sick. This ingrained racism in our police needs to be weeded out and those who are responsible should be charged with hate crimes where applicable. My heart is breaking for all of the hate I see and feel. I live in the south and see it all the time.
After the racist chant on the fraternity bus surfaced, some of us were sitting in the break room watching the news about it. A white co-worker stated, "Some of the people on the bus were not happy about this and didn't agree." I then said to her, "Well why the hell didn't they say something then and there instead of letting this go on?" She stood up and grabbed her lunch and said, "I don't need to be attacked like this." And walked out. Wow.

Its hard for black Americans to catch our breath these days: from Michael Brown to Eric Garner to John Crawford to Tamir Rice to Walter Scott and now Eric Harris, we just keep getting the wind knocked out of us as we bear witness to death after unnecessary death of black men at the hands of the police.
Those who police us, however, can breathe quite easily.
Watching a police officer yelling Fuck your breath as a knee is placed on the head of Harris as hes dying, watching a police officer shoot Scott in the back, its clear that the inhumanity on display is not an aberration. It looks too much like these men being hunted: part Doom, part Cops. The police stalk Harris down like an animal, and you can hear them breathing so clearly just before Harris is shot, before he says Oh my god! Im losing my breath!, before the cops explain how little that matters.
Fuck your breath.
Ive encountered that sentiment before, at a pro-police rally outside New Yorks City Hall in December 2014. Off-duty cops and their supporters chose to taunt Eric Garner from beyond the grave with his dying words (I cant breathe, said some people 11 times) and by wearing shirts which read I Can Breathe.
Black Americans cant breathe when we witness such sadistic glee, even though its just a restatement of an obvious, if painful, truth: they can breathe, and those of us who live under white supremacy as administered by law enforcement cannot. The cops, smug with all-but unassailable employment and pensions (for now), dont care that black people cant breathe when were being unconstitutionally stopped-and-frisked, subjected to illegal chokeholds, allegedly having evidence planted on us, or being told the depths of law enforcements apathy after being shot.
