Rep. Mike Honda's ill-timed nap on the House floor in February seems to have stiffened the resolve of 2014 challenger Ro Khanna to stage a 2016 rematch of Silicon Valley's most bitterly fought congressional race.
The former Obama administration official, who came close to unseating fellow Democrat Honda in November, raised $801,000 in this year's first quarter, a report he'll file Wednesday shows -- more than three times what Honda reportedly raised.
Just as 2014's tech-against-labor matchup followed the Silicon Valley model of disruptive startup versus establishment, so too is Khanna now apparently embracing the tech ethos of learning from failure and immediately trying again.
... Khanna, 38, of Fremont, hasn't officially declared his candidacy -- he's still raising funds through the same committee he opened way back in 2011, when he collected a record-breaking $1.1 million from donors who thought he would run to succeed Rep. Pete Stark in the 15th Congressional District. But Khanna seems almost ready to pull the trigger for 2016.
