Once Ron Paul drops out I can see Gary Johnson taking all the Paulbots with him. If you're the type to vote for Ron Paul you're probably not the type to vote for Mitt Romney.

(6,161 posts)Obama has a 90% approval rating among Liberal Democrats. He may take the other 10% that disapprove, but the number of Paulbots being taken away from Romney would do more damage. Should be interesting to see.

(37,326 posts)I think more Paulbots would vote for Obama than for Romney, just because of the things I mentioned, as well as wanting to get out of Afghanistan right now (no matter how unrealistic that may be). And Gary Johnson would probably stress issues more aligned with Obama. I saw him on C-Span or somewhere and he was asked who he thought he'd take more votes from, and he said Obama. I agree.

(4,458 posts)Will Support the candidate who is for Decriminalizing Cannabis and ending the WoD's.
Yes, I am actually hearing this-Widely.
Is anyone else?
This could, in reality negatively impact Obama. However, I'm sure Axelrod, the VP and several others will "poo-poo" this notion away and dismiss the justice, common sense and using science as a guide as We have for years asked for....
This could actually Be the Election that this will bear out.
Frightening, not because of Cannabis Decrim/Legalization but for the rest of what they believe in...
People were already bailing on the Dem Party for Ron Paul for that very reason.
Many now are Celebrating the selection of not Just Johnson, but Judge Gray as his running mate. Judge Gray is a strong advocate of ending the WoDs-And the People overwhelmingly support it and Him!
Factor in the disgusting MedCanna Raids (worse than under Bush!) and you have a perfect political storm for the incumbent.
I'm not saying I agree with this trend, I don't-But the Refusal of "our govt" to listen to us has bred, out of pure frustration and anger over being ignored, a New Single Issue Voter.
People have had Enough of the fiscal waste, families torn apart, kids futures destroyed over a small bit of "pot" due to draconian laws for the sheer purpose of Benefiting those who profit: Private Prisons, Corps, BigPharma etc-
Politicians are idiots for ignoring us.
People are Pissed that $1 Trillion of our tax dollars has been wasted on Nothing.
People are tired of seeing their friends and family get locked up simply for consuming a plant over the last 45 years.
The People Say ENOUGH and BOTH Gary Johnson and Judge Gray know and Bank on THAT!

(13,184 posts)According to Real Clear Politics, they are both battleground states.
In both states, pot politics is a big deal this year.
In Colorado, they will be voting on legalization. Colorado is also being stung by agggressive DOJ and DEA enforcement actions against dispensaries.
In New Hampshire, the legislature is dealing with medical marijuana and decriminalization. The Democratic governor is threatening to veto both. New Hampshire also has a sizeable Libertarian contingent.
I think the LP could do well in both states. By "well," I mean 2-5% of the vote. That could be enought to tip one or both states.

(4,458 posts)They are not necessarily battlegrounders-Tho Oregon is not "happy" w/Pres Obama and there are 60K MedCanna Patients not to even mention the Support by those who do not use Cannabis.
