My thoughts on not being 'specific'

Especially true in RWNT world.

People saying vague shit like "taxes are too high" and "government can't do anything right" drive me nuts. There are so many types of taxes. Some high and some very low. There are many forms and agencies of government also. Some work very well and others not so much.
Why aren't people specific with their complaints so an intelligent discussion can move forward?

It takes time to research issues, and most people won't spend the time. So, they just repeat whatever they hear on their favorite news channel. It's the same for both conservatives and liberals. Without research, it's only possible to made broad statements.

I agree 100%. That is an all too common feature of our culture. There is a shallowness, that renders far too many discussions of "politics" to the near-meaningless level of, "Nice weather!" followed by, "Sure is! Have a nice day."

In my opinion, that's not the result of people being either ignorant or stupid. It is that our culture depends upon that degree of shallowness, to keep people from two things: thinking and feeling.
