(14,255 posts)Social Security. That seems to mean Chained CPI, raising the eligibility age, giving the fund to Wall Street to gamble with (and bleed with fees), lowering payouts, etc.
Another problem is going to be the disappearing jobs and lowered wages if the TPP and TTIP are jammed through. That means less money paid in to Social Security - and TPP shills know that very fucking well. And, IMO, are quite looking forward to "adjusting" Social Security because of it.

(15,805 posts)I'm a socialist, and while he can talk the talk, unless he drops his Independent position and becomes a Democrat, he's essentially powerless in a national campaign. Meanwhile, he'll raise a lot of money, and keep us all dreaming. I wish him well.

That is the kindest word I can come up with for their policies.
They represent the elites.
They represent the elites of the elites.
They represent Wall Street.
They represent global corporations.
They do absolutely nothing to better the lives
of the working class, the poor, seniors, children, or the disabled.
In all fairness, they do pretend to love fetuses.
I do not understand why the 'Democratic' party is not supporting
Senator Sanders.
I do not care that he is an Independent.
His policies are Democratic policies.

(2,097 posts)O'Malley is advocating expanding Social Security and has a specific 3-point plan for how to do it (eliminate the cap, raise the minimum wage, and reform immigration).

(9,126 posts)Apparently the meme on DU is "Bernie can't win" so there is quite a lot of educating to do. I would bet that if you listed his positions (without his name) DUers would enthusiastically agree with every single one. Their dream candidate! A true Democrat! But put his name on it an pearl clutching ensues. Oy vey!
